Richelle Staley – Clarifying Career Choices with Work Window and VR at Lourdes Hill College

At Work Window, it's important to us that we speak more regularly with our customers—sharing stories, gathering feedback, and celebrating the great work happening in classrooms and organisations around Australia and the rest of the world.


Today, we’re featuring Richelle Staley, Careers Counsellor at Lourdes Hill College, who’s been using Work Window since 2021.



 

Why Work Window?

Richelle previously found it challenging to clearly describe careers to students. She needed a better way to help students see careers realistically without leaving the school grounds.

"Explaining occupations can be difficult. VR lets students quickly step into roles and understand them first-hand."

 

How Lourdes Hill College uses Work Window

Richelle’s team uses Work Window in a few different ways:

  • Individual counselling sessions

  • Classroom sessions

  • Lunchtime 'come and try' sessions

  • Careers events

  • Independent exploration during Senior study periods

"Students become genuinely interested when exploring careers in VR. It’s great to watch them discover something unexpected and meaningful."

 

A Real-Life Example

Recently, Richelle worked with a student who originally wanted to pursue physiotherapy. After using VR to try physiotherapy and clinical exercise physiology, the student discovered that clinical exercise physiology appealed more to her interests.


 

Positive Outcomes

Since adopting Work Window, Richelle has seen:

  • Improved student understanding of careers

  • Increased student engagement with career exploration activities

Future Plans
